For those that know me well know I have an addiction. I confess I am addicted to cookbooks. Not always to cooking… but to cookbooks. I especially love ones where the food actually ends up tasting great! There really is a difference between someone creating a “healthy recipe” and actually being a cook – and that difference I find is taste. When dealing with food sensitivities and restrictions one of the biggest challenges for people is figuring out how to cook good tasting food. These cookbooks and blogs are my current favorites for helping people with food sensitivities.
- The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook: Whole Foods Recipes for Personal and Planetary Health, Second Edition. This cookbook contains many recipes all of which are gluten-free, dairy-free and egg-free. The coconut Quinoa Pilaf is delicious! Here is their blog
- Enlightened Eating This is by local author and nutrition expert Caroline Dupont. After attending one of her cooking classes I found out how delicious kale actually is (when it is prepared properly!). This book is full of easy plant based recipes. One of my favorite potluck recipes is her Greek pasta salad (made with rice pasta).
- Oh She Glows I discovered Angela Liddon’s blog after seeing some of her recipes in Chatelaine. They are delicious. Her salt and vinegar roasted chickpeas are next on my list to make. She makes a variety of vegan recipes.
- The Diva-Dish also has a variety of vegan recipes and great smoothie ideas. Some of which are very kid-friendly!
